Pontifical resin is made from frankincense, myrhh and benzoin resins and is used in churches during mass. Burn this resin to attain peace and tranquillity.
Both Frankincense and Myrrh are resins – hardened sap from trees. In both cases, trees are slashed and allowed to “bleed.” The sap that comes from the trees hardens and forms beads or “tears.” While Frankincense is used for incense and Myrrh is mainly used in oral preparations, they both have many more uses.
Also known as liquid gold or Boswellia serrata Frankincense resin is extracted from the Boswellia tree. Frankincense assists in removing negative energy from a space, providing protection, and creating an elevated spiritual awareness. It is often used to lift moods, to ease anxiety and stress, and for purification.
Myrrh resin is a natural gum. It has been used historically as a perfume, incense and medicine. Myrrh is used externally in liniments for bruises, aches, and sprains or healing salves that can be applied to abrasions and other minor skin ailments. Myrrh is used as an antiseptic in mouthwashes, gargles, and toothpastes.
